Along with the garden and farmland bird eggs these are part of the Chocolate Detective’s Curated Collection – her very favourite products from a lifetime of tasting chocolate. These eggs are the same as the salted caramel in the cuckoo which were selected as a Best Buy and given 5 stars in Jeremy Lee’s (Quo Vadis) taste test for the Observer at Easter 2023.

The Herring Gull is a familiar sight along Britain’s coastlines. He is a resourceful fellow, equally at home scavenging for scraps or soaring effortlessly on the breeze. Ever the opportunist, he has excellent vision and hearing and, it seems, a taste for salty and acidic foods. So when you are next buying your fish & chips at the beach, go easy on the salt & vinegar!

Artwork and copy is by Madeleine Floyd who has two lovely books of bird illustrations, ‘Birdsong’ and ‘Chickens, Ducks and Geese.’
