Every good Detective knows the difference between a clever imitation and the real thing.
|
For this particular case, I turned to two artists. Madeleine Floyd, our “Artist in Residence” who paints the exquisitely observed ornithological and botanical illustrations for our Bird Egg series, and created the original Country Bunny. He’s not, strictly speaking, a bunny at all, but a hare of considerable style and distinction.
|
The next clue came from Nadia Roden: artist and animator with a gift for turning paint and paper into something quite magical. Inspired by Madeleine’s illustration, she created an old-school, hand drawn animation that feels both nostalgic and fresh — as though the hare had suddenly decided to step off the page and continue the story elsewhere.

Why does this matter in a world full of AI?
|
Because it is work made through careful observation. Through drawing, painting, refining, and imagining, rather than imagery assembled by algorithmic guesswork.
|
It bears the small miracles of human judgement: the unexpected line, the gentle floating movement of the paper, the brush mark left just so, the feeling that something living has passed through the artist’s hand.
