Cooee subscriber,
Spring is in the air and in our step, we are heartened by each lengthening day and signs of new life in the garden. We have been lucky enough to be serenaded nightly by the melodious Tooting Bec Song Thrush. By day we see many garden birds and have regular visits from a Woodpecker and a Sparrow Hawk.

Valentines is almost upon us, and this year Mother's Day and Easter are on the early side: on the 10th and 31st March. We now have lots of stock and will continue to replenish the best sellers.

2023 was a very busy year working with wonderful illustrator Madeleine Floyd. We expanded the range of birds eggs to include Goldfinches, Blue Tits, Pheasants, Kingfishers, Capercaillies, Swallows and Storks* We’ve also created a bird identification chart for the first time to help you navigate the different colours and fillings of the range of birds. This has been a great success and we hope it will be something you can share with your fellow twitchers ;)

We loved making a special box of Stork eggs to celebrate the return of wild Storks breeding in England after a gap of 600 years, thanks to the Knepp re-wilding project. Knepp has recently opened a lovely shop where you can buy our eggs, as part of their range of beautifully curated gifts, and we hope to visit soon.

We regularly receive enquiries about local availability so we have created a map indicating some of our outlets here Just hover your mouse over the red markers. If you would like to see us in your local deli, farm or gift shop please do let us know your recommendations and we’ll be happy to follow up.

As part of the Chocolate Detective's commitment to transparency and responsible sourcing, the cocoa for making the chocolate bird eggs is from Ecuador , and the new egg cartons are made from bagasse, a high quality direct food contact board made from sugar cane waste fibre, which is home compostable, reduces wastage and doesn’t need a tissue liner.

With very best wishes Chantal, James & Inspector Tom
