Hi subscriber,

This is a very quick note to say I’m sorry I’ve been so quiet, and to explain why I haven't had time to write to you individually.

Please feel free to unsubscribe(at the foot of this page) if you don't have time to read these newsletters, I will completely understand!

It has been a pretty hectic year so far since I launched my new business The Chocolate Detective and also decided to launch a crowd funder for the Grenada Chocolate Company - the workers and farmers there have been hit very hard by the pandemic.

Here is the link to the crowdfunding page - its really just scratching the surface as the bigger picture is to build solar-powered factory on land which the chocolate company will own.

In an effort to protect everyone in Grenada from COVID-19, the island was completely lockdown for 18 months. This was very effective at controlling the virus, but the economy suffered massively, now with the borders are open again people have started to get sick. Very little chocolate has been shipped off the island, and few tourists (the life blood of the economy) have been able to visit.

The final blow is that the company has been given notice to quit its original factory building which is a charming house in the middle of Hermitage village, backing onto a cocoa farm. The lease had expired and the owner wants to move back and live there with his family.
This has precipitated the plan to design a purpose-built solar-powered factory with bigger ambitions for the future and to be able to employ more cocoa farmers and local people in the area of Hermitage Saint Patrick’s.

My aim in starting the crowd funder is to get as many people as possible to join in, and of course to eat this wonderful chocolate. I am asking for your help to encourage lots of people to make a donation of £10. In this way you will help to build the crowd. We have almost raised the first £10,000, and when this is reached there will be a “stretch target”.

There are lots of great rewards, or you can just donate towards one of the causes. Sadly the rewards are limited to the UK for now, although I am hoping to get something similar started in the USA.

If you believe that this is a great idea please tell lots of your friends to do the same. You can be in at the start of this powerful chocolate revolution, where 100% of the value of the finished organic chocolate goes back into the local economy. What better example for #COP26 goals.

The campaign has only a few more days left to run officially - to November 11th, unless I decide to extend the deadline.
If you haven’t already please sign up to my Chocolate Detective newsletter https://www.chocolatedetective.co.uk/signup/

Thank you so much for all your help and support now and in the future,

With love and best wishes
Chantal
